Ricardo Villalobos @ fabric

ricardo

Not the best start when you turn up at 5 to be met by a big ass que…then when you get it in its way too rammed by the time you get to room one- you’ve already elbowed 10 pairs of sunglasses of the numerous Italians…  so checked out room 3 which was absolutely rockin…after an hour or so i braved it back to room 1- by this stage it had cleared up and so it began. All in all really good night here are a couple of highlights of his set/ or as close as i could get!

CFCF – You Hear Colours

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/3166070]

A nice film we though we would share- it is the new video for CFCF’s You Hear Colours, extremely limited double A-side white vinyl 7″ single (out now on Acephale). The fitting clip was put together by Dallas’ own Tommy Boy, using footage from Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, NASA, and National Geographic.

Orbital ''Headlining Sonar''

Just found out Orbital shall be doing the honours at Sonar this year! Well excited, remember listening to “Belfast” as a wee lad and loving it!
Heres a cover of the Dr Who theme tune, cosmic cheese on toast.

DISCO 3000 – DISCO 3000

This is Disco 3000’s new podcast mix, not really to sure on this one, seems like an eletrco dj’s decided to jump on the disco bandwagon (which is exactly what it is, as it is Erol Alkan’s alter ego)…..its seems to be all style and no substance. saying that, its been very popular!……possibly only with the sorta people who watch Skins *pukes on pet cat*…..But i’ve decided to stick it up anyway and let you make up you own mind.

All said, the idea is impressive. basically Erol has a constant drum machine running throughout most of the mix and a synth to get some cosmic effects, he quickly mixes in and out lots of tracks on 2 1210’s. nice rough and ready feel, but the tempo seems a little too fast and there is lots of djm800 effects used, which basically go against all things disco! We will rarely put up stuff that we  don’t 100% love, but this is an exception.

No tracklisting available.

The final stink

A two part episode kicking off with the last ever Stink, the legendary monthly Monday night held at T Bar, hosted by Michael Mayer and Damian Lazarus just before Christmas 08, with a special “Santa” appearance by Mr C.

We then fly to Barcelona to check out the Crosstown Rebels’ residency at Liquid, one of the city’s favourite clubs. Dinky, Pier Bucci and Damian Lazarus spend the night playing under the Spanish stars to an energetic crowd on the edge of a great outdoor swimming pool.

The BlueBoy – Remember Me (Sure Is Pure 7inch)

A classic tune from the 90s, if this one doesn’t get the crowd up to dance piss on the mixer.

“Blue Boy is a pseudonym for the Scottish DJ, Alexis ‘Lex’ Blackmore. He is best known for “Remember Me”, an international dance hit in 1997. Blackmore first worked as a DJ in Glasgow and London, touring with the British techno outfit The Shamen in 1992. ”

Chaka Khan – Fate (Todd Terje edit)

You’ll probably most likely recognize the riff in this track from the late 90’s pop tune ”music sounds better with you” by stardust, but it was infact sampled from Chaka Khan. Here’s a nice edit from the ‘Todd”, which is cool warm up material….laid back and funky.
