Black Meteoric Star – Death Tunnel / Dreamcatcher

DFA did us all a favour and committed ‘Death Tunnel’ to vinyl. This track have been recorded onto analog tape hence the hiss, but that only adds to the mystique and atmosphere of the vibe, which attempts to channel the live and intuitive spirits of Ron Hardy or Adonis’ box jamming Chicago sessions with the fiercely linear constructions of Unit Moebius’ freak-gang acid house. Gavin Russom largely made his own specialised circuit setup for the recordings, and with a little help from the 707 drumbox he’s made an authentically raw tribute to the original box bangers. Big tip!

Rough and Raw!

*update*

I’ve included a full preview of the album track ‘Dreamcatcher’, as heard on BIS, its a slow burning dark cosmic affair, which should destroy a few floors alright!

  1. this is an epic tune. you heard the other BMS stuff i take it? pretty awesome.

  2. vinyl promos? lucky man in this day and age, thought it was all mp3′s and cdr’s now? any chance you can stick my email on some promo lists? no idea how you get onto these tings! cheers.

yea by got i meant listened to, its all going back to vinyl in my opinion. People have actully removed me from promo lists i was on because i have this blog now, and they are worried about it getting leaked. For disco and underground music it destroys it if you release an mp3 as it just gets sent about p2p networks and blogs and shit. although vinyl releases are a lot more lengthy and risky, probably better to keep it on vinyl for the hype factor too.

  3. I’m involved with the local indie/punk scene, in addition to being a fan of many of the styles discussed here and others like it. I’ve always found vinyl as a given. A 7 inch single or a single artist 12″ is a commitment to music, personally and, to many who have moved on, professionally. Hype and fancy covers are plusses for sure, but i like the fact that small press records are for those who want them.

yea BIS means beats in space…Personally i would like to see more vinyl only releases and hence filter out the shit many digital labels are putting out to cash in on a genre that is popular at the time.
