Junkie XL – Cosmic Rave

So what that this little rascal has hopped across from the funky house train and straight onto the Nu-disco bandwagon….its a decent track, if not a little cheesy and generic! This’ll work most floors as a warm up, Pick it from all the usuals.

The Creatures – Machine’s drama

Some bleepy melancholic disco from the creatures up for grabs here, and we’re not talking about the ‘Siouxsie & the Banshees’ Creatures side project, these creatures were just some shitty weird italo disco freaks from around the same era.

Tim Sweeney: Bahilu Records Mega Mix

256809eb47273ce2f484fedc40176bd6c5ad5543_m

Nicked this mix of pitchfork it’s so ace, full of those sick tunes every disco dj has been bustin out for the last 15 years!

“DFA’s Tim Sweeney has put together a mix of mostly early-90s disco and house from the Balihu label, an imprint started in NYC in 1993 by producer Daniel Wang (you may recall seeing his name on the tracklist to Hercules and Love Affair’s recent mix, Sidetracked). The mix is heavy on Wang’s original material (see tracklist below), but also features a number of the label’s other releases, some of which have never had digital versions until now. A compilation of the label’s highlights, entitled Daniel Wang Presents Balihu 1993-2008 is out today via Rush Hour.”

Fatboy Slim – Song for Lindy

Taking the infamous piano sample from Jimi Polo’s better days (the sample that launched 10 odd records) Fatboy went and stuck some big old school beats over it, resulting in some great party material, ….a tune that everyone recognises but never knows were or from when! This edit featured on Fatboy’s first album, Better living through Chemistry. Enjoy!

The Supermen Lovers – The Howling Session Part 1

623912744_42d15ff7fb_b

Huge tune, proper crackly echo synth action, reminds me a bit of some off Padded Cell’s stuff…was a massive favorite of the Kompakt crew, I remember Mayer dropping it at a beach party at Sonar and the place going off!

Space – Magic Fly (Kudu extended edit)

The original space-age disco track, aptly titled ‘Space’ have sold over 12 million records worldwide, this being considered their best work. We’ve got a couple more bits and pieces from them, but I thought we’d start with the classic! This is a slightly extended edit by Kudu, who’s has the sense not to muck with the original too much. Enjoy.

FeelmyBicep presents Luca C

lucass-3-1189440825-83 copy

Feelmybicep asked a couple of people who are doing something a little different to do a mix for us- first up is a dose of italo and jerky synth-pop with a bit of Turkish-ish cosmic thrown into the blender.

Luca runs a also runs a night called Spangles which has had the likes of Heartbreak, Horse Meat and Bloodbath pushing the plastic. He is also been involved in co writing and co producing Ali Love’s new album on Back Yard records with a release date set for later this year..very very busy guy so make time for this mix..

Sloppy slice of sleaze and cheese….

Lian Ross – Reach Out

04.24.39

The funky jerkin bass in this track does it all here, fun time Italo (made in Germany, 22 years ago), I’m pretty sure Venga Boys or the like sampled this track, they were clearly on the ball…  All the same this is a great track with some serious synth play and its got a real pumping good-time feel, while i’m jogging to the gym, this makes me flexxed to get there rapid.

Bicep – Humans are among us

Here’s a little mix I did for Halloween a few years ago, with lots of nice eerie ethereal interludes. It was off the cuff with no prior tracklisting worked out, so a little hit or miss in places, but the mixing and some of the tracks are nothing short of inspiring. ;-)
