Serge Santiago dropped off some cool unreleased edits with us this week. All very playful party tracks, some of which you’ll recognise from his cracking BIS mix several years ago and even one which was inspired by a mix he heard here (Living in the 80′s)

In the crowded universe of the re-edit, Serge Santiago (along with a few noted others) stands heads and shoulders above most of the “competition”. His various Gold/Orange/Purple etc series have been amongst some of my most listened to records of the last few years with his ‘Black’ release my personal all time favourite, the seminal re-edits of Baciotti’s ‘Black Jack’ and Easy Going’s ‘Fear’ are hard to top.
Many many thanks to Feel My Bicep for the slightly surreal interview and of course the unreleased reedits! Its hard to believe with so many mediocre Abletonesque cut&paste abominations of so many classic tracks these days that these three tracks remain unreleased! The re-edit of ‘Spank’ is freakin’ gorgeous and is up there with Brooklyn Express’s “re-edit” of Jimmy Bo Horne’s classic!
These three tracks have made my day!
I forgot to add, is the “Menery” title something Serge called it? As the actual track is of course the Patrick Cowley “Menergy” classic with Sylvester adding the vox, released in 1984…..also I love how Serge seamlessly blended the intro from The Immortals ‘Ultimate Warlord’ cosmic wonder track and the Bloodhound Gang sample really works!
Also on the ‘Spank’ edit it says “SSUK Edit” I take that to mean the same title I have seen on other Serge re-edits, namely “Serge Santiago UK Edit” – I wonder if that means he was in the UK when he did it!?
Apologies for my anal beardo moment, I want to send the link to a few people so it would be good to get the titles right before they get endlessly copied as I am sure they are destined to be!
hey thanks for the kind words, the track we were sent had Menery as the id tags- but this could possibly be a typo.
