“DJ Dials’ Pillowforts’ is a heartbreakingly sublime encounter with arpeggios.”
That description is right on the money, we have been closing our sets with this for the past while absolutely huge on a big rig. The arps and haunting synths rip you spine apart, you never know which direction it’s gonna go but always seems to make sense…oh and i forgot about those big sub synths, be prepared, cause they will shake you down to the bone.
“Sound system culture moves so fast. Forging onwards, but simultaneously zig-zagging through its past, picking up sonic references which appear as quickly as they disappear. With the ‘Brownswood Electr*c’ series we’re simply attempting to highlight the depth and breadth of the electronic space…and the exceptional quality within.” – Gilles Peterson
For me this track is like a perfect harmony between LCD Soundsystem’s 45:33 intro and Flying Lotus’ recent album Cosmogramma. ‘Pillowforts’ is part of Giles Peterson’s new compilation on Brownswood that drops June 27th…no download sorry
