Seidensticker – Untitled B1 [Out To Lunch 2003] (Scribbled EP) http://www.sendspace.com/file/ngvk03
I’m a big fan of the basic groove be it classic Kerri Chandler or up to date grooves from Agnes & the rest of the Swiss house mafia. “Scribbled” EP by Seidensticker is a 9 track house EP of the finest & quite soulful Detroit house grooves. Perfect to start a set with.
N.Y House ‘n Authority -Untitled A2 [Nu Groove Records 1989] (Apt EP) http://www.sendspace.com/file/21wqu5
Rheji & Ronald Burrell were very influential to deep house in the late 80’s early 90’s. With there own label, Nu Groove Records, the two brothers could release as they wanted, sometimes as a duo or on there own. N.Y House ‘n Authority was one of Rheji’s guises where he would bring his New Jersey style house & blend it with more Detroit sounding house. “Apt” EP is a perfect example of this as it features a whole range of sounds.
Q – “The Voice Of Q” [Philly World Records 1982] http://www.sendspace.com/file/5tef37
Way, way,way ahead of its time! The Voice of Q sounds as fresh as it did back in the day. Sweet & soulful vocals meets vocoder disco vocals on top of an funky electronic beat. Dont under-estimate Q!
Chez-Trent – “The Choice” (Windy City Club) [KMS 1993] http://www.sendspace.com/file/2b4z0o
Chez Damier & Ron Trent has to be one of the best house collaborations ever, I mean both extremely taleted in their own right so put them together and you get the ultimate force. The Windy City Club mix of “The Choice” is an awesome deep vocal house track that has the dance floor moving & grooving, with ease to this very day.
Round One – “I’m Your Brother” (Club Version) [Main Street Records 1994] http://www.sendspace.com/file/1v79lu
Mark Ernestus & Moritz Von Oswald first collaborated record together & what a record it was. Sublime & perfect for the end of the night record.
Kerri Chandler -“Climax 2” (Atmosphere EP) [157 Shelter Records 1993] http://www.sendspace.com/file/0n3c0t
Kerri Chandler is one of my favourite house producers & his Atmosphere EP(along with so many others) is a classic that still sounds fresh today. I could have chosen any of the 4 tracks from this EP as there all stellar. A excellent house EP that everyone should own!
Aaron Arce – “Pressure” [Duba Records 1997] (The Noize EP) http://www.sendspace.com/file/uhi0dj
I love this kind of house, sweet grooves garage like vocals and a up-beat tempo. “Pressure” by Aaron Arce has been lifted from the Noize EP which was (sadly) only released as a promo. Quality deep-garage house.
24Hour Experience “Together” (Part 2) [Nice ‘N’ Ripe 1994] http://www.sendspace.com/file/i3b9hs
I’ve recently brought this one back to life as it slots into a deep house set like a missing piece of a jigsaw. Possibly one of the all time greatest UK garage tracks from the by-gone era of 2-step & champagne style garage music. Absolute killer!
Barada “Sensation” [Definitive Recordings 1994](Glue EP) http://www.sendspace.com/file/3gskfm
“Sensation” is taken from the fabulous “Glue” EP which really is a fantastic EP. Rolling grooves meet soulful riffs & playful keys all of which are backed up by some “housey” vocals. This is my kind of house music.
Unknown – High Society. http://www.sendspace.com/file/mgsvmr
This one is as rare as rockin horse shit! I dont know anything about it apart from it kills it. I bought it at my local record store(Disc in Bradford) back in the day,& I reckon this is part of the reason why I have a massive love for piano influenced house. Just listen & see why.
