Space – Magic Fly (Kudu extended edit)

The original space-age disco track, aptly titled ‘Space’ have sold over 12 million records worldwide, this being considered their best work. We’ve got a couple more bits and pieces from them, but I thought we’d start with the classic! This is a slightly extended edit by Kudu, who’s has the sense not to muck with the original too much. Enjoy.

OMD- Talking Loud and Clear

dogwearingstylishwigandglasses

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, a British band in ze 80s(79-88) that make some swish synth pop. Talking Loud and Clear is a great track to start on considering we are yet to put any OMD up, will have to sort this out with some more classics. Word of advice, this tune doesn’t always go down to well- (when i have played it out that is), have seen Tiefschwarz play this on a couple of occasions as their “quirky” last tune!

John Cooper Clarke- (I Married) A Monster From Outer Space

monster

Amongst all of the great bands and songwriters that came out of Salford in the early 70s and 80s, John Cooper Clarke has perhaps never received the recognition he deserves. Although to be fair, Clarke doesn’t really do pop songs. His brand of dark spoken verse set against harsh and straining instrumentals is a somewhat acquired taste. However, his lyrics are often filled with humour and have a unique ‘WTF’ factor.

Quality edit of Brian Ferry’s wonderful Roxy Music form a couple of years back- really doing the original the justice it deserves. The combination of the We Love residents Serge and Phillips seem to deliver on all their edits and this is no different. Check it.

Delia Gonzalez & Gavin Russom – Black Spring

Delia Gonzalez & Gavin Russom are an enigmatic pair of artists currently living in Berlin. They originally hail from Miami and have embarked on many unusual projects, both visual and audio.

Their album ‘Days of Mars’ is unusual in its use of ‘live’ recorded performances of home-made synthesizers that invoke early unsubstantiated myths of Richard D James. Black Spring is a euphoric yet dark masterpiece composition with the vibe of a Carl Craig or Lindstrom hit.
