Up on the selection duties are New York’s very own Wurst Music Co, we asked label boss Roy Dank to come on here and talk us through the highlights one of our favourite labels. Initially launched in 2006 as an edits label it gained tonnes of success with releases from the likes of Runaway and Lee Douglas. The Imprint then evolved into The Wurst Music Co focusing on new productions and steering away from the edits past. Wurst has gone from strength to strength since with releases from Neurotic Drum Band, Reade Truth, Great Weekend, and Ulysses. Right now we are eagerly anticipating what comes next! here’s Roy to talk you through;
The song that changed everything. Brennan was originally working on a Wurst Edits EP when he played me the super-rough version of this. Next thing we knew it was a Detroit-informed piece of 21st century house music. Couldn’t be more proud of this one.
I’m convinced John and Elliot from NDB gave me this out of frustration. I had asked for an uptempo cut to complement the original song I signed, “Neurotic Erotic Adventure”. They sent over a couple which I liked, but didn’t feel fit the flip. The moment this monstrosity of a piano house remix came through my inbox, I knew it was the one.
