Paris’s answer to Annie Lennox…… Desireless composed “Voyage Voyage”, a camp dreamy synthpop song that topped the charts in many European countries. Big fan of a lot of 1980’s french synthpop, and this is up there with best. 

Pretty obscure edit here, don’t know who it’s by, but it’s one of the best version’s I’ve come across, along with the Brit mix.

The Comsat Angels were a post-punk band from Sheffield, England, active from 1978 to 1995. Their music has been described as “abstract pop songs with spare instrumentation, many of which were bleak and filled with some form of heartache.”

A great tune played by Tensnake in his recent BIS mix, “I’m Falling” was also featured in the movie Real Genius with Val Kilmer. Awesome jerky 80s pop, it even has some panpipes!

Very cool track reminiscent of some of the stuff dial has put out over the last couple of years, possibly a source of inspiration perhaps…Below is a funny video of Pantha du Prince and Efdemin ‘larking’ about behind the decks to this tune. This track was actually out in 2001, it came to our attention through, the now legendary, ‘Taka Taka’ mix by Ricardo  Villalobos two years later in 2003- I recommend checking out that mix if you haven’t already, pretty outstanding.

Patrick Cowley’s mega mix  is by far my favourite rendition of this tune. I’m still yet to hear this version played out- would love to hear see the reaction after 15mins in a club, there are only so many times you can sing I fell looooooooooooovvvvvvvveeeeee. Although it does make good listening

Here is a mix from a couple of dudes in Manchester England we met up in Glasgow at Sideshow. These guys carry everything from Marcel Dettmann to Mike Mareen in their record bags, clashing Detroit techno with italo disco- working to great effect on occasions.

This mix really in keeping with the vibe music hosted on the blog, with a few of our gems thrown in.. we thought it would be rude not to host it. Starting of slow with a few classic cosmic tunes balancing funk with cheese, italo esq “Silencer” gets the mix into swing, the vibe then turns deep which is quite prominent throughout the rest of the mix.

This week I have been listening to a few old “beats in space” podcasts and found a guilty pleasure. He goes by the name of Baris K.

Baris K is a Turkish DJ with influences ranging from 70’s Turkish cosmic disco music, with prevalent psychedelic & Anatolian Rock.

I am 90% sure you have probably heard his music in a Turkish kebab shop somewhere in the East end. This record come with a word of warning, like many office emails you get NSFW, this one is kinda NSOL (not.safe.out.loud.). Anyway I have managed to hunt down a mix by him and also a link to what has to be a Turkish porn tune, but Baris K we love you!
