Bob Salton – Starknight

Out on Blood records in 82′, as the title suggests its a dark affair on the italo underground. A track that get almost too much play on the Bicep player, anything that has a dark analoge disco vibe and lyrics that dont make any sense to us is pretty much ok…. Not to mention synth solos, how I miss them.

Sheharzad – Yalla Yalla (Panoptikum remix)

If you haven’t heard of the label Fine Art you have been digging you head in allllll the wrong places;

“Fine Art is a record label and media collective which establishes its identity within both sides of a creative process. It stands for passion, forward thinking and boundless approach implemented in all of the label’s output.”

This is a huge tune, mixing tight drum machine groves with some of the finest string action I have heard in years! We are huge fans of this remix and it would be our favourite, even tho the original is sublime and Henrick Schwarz turns out another ace remix. This 128 sample does not do the track the justice it deserves so pick up the 12″ or a 320 HERE!

Gesaffelstein – The Operator

tn1wdoYz3hoistdogl76TgV2o1_500

“The Operator” is Released on Zone records, “purveyors of the finest cybernetic euro-pop, Parisian gentleman Gesaffelstein creates glacial slabs of impeccable ice-cold electronic noise that seem to emanate so naturally out of the wired brains of immaculately coiffured men who dream of nightimes spent prowling through cold, industrial cityscapes dressed up like Roxy Music gigolo-bots, to end up regularly congregating with likeminded replicants in dankly lit, underground dancehalls haunted by the ghosts of Kraftwerk and DAF, peering nonchalantly through vapor mists for pale faced women with sharp midnight lipstick lips and that familiar melancholy look in the eyes”, I couldn’t have put it better myself!

This track is great italo-esque electronic monster, supported by the likes of Hell, Miss Kitten and Garnier and you can see why!

Project KOMAKINO – Syndrome (Tom Furse Remix)

yX6zGzblthx9sga62P9SHYOGo1_500

You may not know the name ‘Tom Furse‘, but you are bound to be familiar with his productions. He is more commonly known as keyboard wizard from The Horrors, responsible for the awesome remix of ‘Heartbreak – Akin to dancing, released on Dissident records a couple of months back. This again is simply outstanding, the kinda shit a lovechild between Wolfgang Flür and Ian Curtis would be thinking up. Post punk industrial disco, CBS will be loving this, we are!

alden tyrell- odessa theme

hm-2

Perfect sunday morning Italo-Cosmic disco, this beauty was released on Clone back in 2006 and I heard it out for the fist time last night. It makes me want to grow a moustache and put on a white suit with 3 sets of shoulder-pads.

Tiga – Montreal Mix Sessions Vol. 5 – Mixed Emotions

Spin back 9 years to Febuary 2001 and a new DJ “Tiga” breaking onto the Techno scene with outstanding remixes with likes of Adam Beyer and Linda Lamb,  collaborations that would be unheard of today. Where Beyer and the Techno pioneers stayed on their path Tiga has been mixing up the genres redefining a new Electroclash genre with his subsequent releases- Tiga still seems to be diving opinion with his unique style to this day. Either way this is a brilliant mix CD,that broke him onto the scene so its defiantly worth a listen!!!

“Making this CD was very hard, and took a lot out of me. While the music is not my own, the process of putting it all together is my craft. And so the thousands of records get narrowed down, and the world of possibilities get edited down to a few photos…and out of this overwhelming and vast sea of stimulus and infinite sources, finite choices are made…small, personal and often timid choices that ultimately help define who you are as an artist, and are all you really have. So you end up with this little window into what we felt, listened to, and were inspired by in October of 2000. This is the process. It is a process that never ends, just finds temporary expression, as a new wave of inspiration floods in. This process would never be the same without my friends, partners and family. Thanks to all the labels and artists, who both inspired and enabled this entire project!”

Muravchix- Replicant's Lament

“It twists and turns for nearly 10 minutes, moving from mournful strings to tough beats and bass to uplifting melodic swirls and back again”

An outstanding piece of Italo from the front man of Scene-chic band Heartbreak. Released as a limited 200 press, on the outstanding Dissident Records this one is hard to find…

You might be able to find it in Piccadilly Records in Manchester or Phonica London or even here, in it’s full plastic glory.

Marco Carola – Bloody Cash

20 days into the New Year and it feels like this track is making a resurgence in the clubs. One of those tunes you love or hate, that sounds particularly good on a big rig but not so impressive on those ipod headphones. It helps being in nearly everyone from Richie Hawtin to Slam’s track-listings over the last couple of months…it also appeared on the Sebastien San resident advisor mix.The track itself has a rolling drive and shades of Minilogue/ Cobblestone Jazz esq. synths and blips. Defiantly worth at least a listen!
