Feel my Bicep

Finally our plastic homage to Detroit has hit the shelves. BUY BUY BUY. Have a listen, we hope you like it. Instead of describe the track for you we thought it may be better to give you an insight into the production.

Bicep – 313

‘313’ was basically a melody I recorded of my laptop, my neighbour was getting his Jazz on, so I stuck the mic up to the wall and clicked record. **Note: he will have no credits on the sleeve- His dog shits all over my steps**. We knew the claps were a fundamental part of the track so to add some realism, we set off to Dalston market- inspired by stories of Marshall Jefferson hiring 15 people for the claps on his tunes when he played live. Instead of forming an alliance with the common people we stocked up on meat and what a fine selection there was on offer. On returning to the studio we took turns recording and slapping each other with various types of beef and fish- finally we layered these sounds to give this ‘Real‘ meat thing in action. The chatting you can hear around the start was recorded of my phone while in the waiting room of a very lively brothel, all I can say is that the recording got a little messy towards the end.

‘Winter’ was just a demo song on our DAW, cant believe people didn’t pick up on this one ;)

“Side A features an edit/remix of a classic cosmic disco jam – namely the Brothers Johnson “Strawberry Letter 23″. Beautifully slo-mo with lush keyes, it’s a paean to the universe! On the flip “Magic” is a smooth escalating, balearic nugget with a very funky guitar lick, whilst the 12” rounds off with with “Love”, an even more balearic end of the night sort of cut that is criminally short, clocking in at 2mins12sec.”

On the theme of cheesy italo, here’s an edit we did last year for a mix. It’s a re-shuffle of an obscure early 80’s italo track, we’ve cut out the shite vocal entirely and added lots of extra synths, percussion and arpeggiated bass. Great sax solo near the end, pure brie.

The Nice guys over at Contort Yourself in Manchester have asked us to come up and spin some tunes. Kraftwerk and Steve Reich are playing the previous night, and Contort Yourself hold their own night the following day… so its defo worth a trip up :)

This one has been floating around on our myspace for a while, its a low slung Miami Vice edit we did for a gig a while ago. we are giving out 1000 or 2 weeks for free download of the 320 version. The extended version should be released on vinyl later in the year hopefully :)

Here’s a preview of our final mastered version of Strawberry Letter 32, which is to be released over the summer on Ghost Town (NYC) records alongside a Citizen Kane edit.

You just need to look at the names on the remix for this EP,Guillaume and The Coutu Dumonts and Paul Ritch no less!This edit of the original has been floating around on my computer for the past year or so, i think we edited it for live purposes -extending intro/otro…cant really remember…It was released on Get Physic Music at a time that saw most of their focus and direction behind the final wave of smash-s-HIT “Samim- Heater”, so the EP was somewhat overshadowed. Lopazz has been making top quality productions over the last couple of years, redefining Get Physical’s tongue in cheek edge with the help of Noze- we would advise having a hoke for the old stuff.
