Burial- UK

93

When sent this track a couple of years ago I never knew it was produced by the dubstep Don himself…at the time I was ripping it over minimalish tribally style techno, thinking it was like some darker M83 or something. Pretty Epic…Everything about it is great, the pong synth with the pitched up vocals and the dark atmosphere reverb-ing on top. Less beats please!

Coma – Reprise

18_webtestbeachlines

Melodic tech-y track new from Kompakt, charming bells resonate throughout the track keeping it pretty chilled whilst being upbeat at the same time. It reminded me slightly of the Burial/ Four Tet collaboration, but more like Gui Boratto meets Pantha Du Prince. “Sum” also on the B-side is an awesome deep, dubby track, really smooth and grooving…with a good helping of delay action.

Fleetwood Mac – Bicep’s rare edits dig

This is a pretty special post, especially if your as big a Fleetwood Mac fan as we are. Over the past year or so, we’ve been hunting hard for any edits and remixes of Fleetwood/Stevie Nicks. Here is the best of ‘em!
Rather varied….with some taking a cosmic disco twist, others a more dubby jazz affair, and one which is an all out 1980’s drum machine overload!

Enjoy!

Burial- South London Boroughs

Hate the word “dubstep”, it makes me think of cheesy electro house wobbly bottom beats. For me I like the top ends, the shuffling aspect of tunes in this dub, dub techno, dub- whatever the fuck genre…There is some great tunes out there with tones of producers creating and improvising to great effect, but in my opinion there is no one better than Burial. I have loved all of his productions, with this EP one of many highlights. His style is very crossover friendly and so a lot of people can relate to it. South London Boroughs actually reminded me of  Kenlou- the Bounce (one of my favorite tunes), when I heard it for the first time.

Absolutely fucking amazing jazzy dubbed out edit of Michael Jackson here that just rolls and rolls. Kinda reminds me of some of the IMPS (minilogue) stuff. Awesome.

Omar-S – U

Raw and unfiltered: It describes Detroit producer Omar-S’s music, as well as his personality. But once you hear the man speak, you’ll find that there’s more than meets than eye…Resident Advisor did an awesome piece on him months ago HERE.

I haven’t had his fabric CD off repeat, this tune is just a sample of the quality tune-age it includes. FXHE have been banging outstanding records by the bucket-load, I recommend you check al this stuff out if you ain’t already.

Willie Colon- Set Fire To Me (Inferno Dub Version)

William Anthony Colon is a Puerto Rican salsa music icon. First and foremost a trombonist, also sings, writes, produces and acts. He is also involved in municipal politics in New York City.

Colon was born in the Bronx, New York in April 28 1950, to Puerto Rican parents. He picked up the trumpet from a young age, and later switched to trombone, inspired by the all-trombone sound of Mon Rivera and -at least during a specific period in the 1960s- that of Eddie Palmieri. He was bullied in his neighborhood because of this, and had to defend himself quite often from gang members.

Miami vice collides with New York Disco! There ain’t a genre that describes this tune whilst having a deep house vibe the congas, the piano and the soulful  lyrics keep it disco!
