Next up on the FMB Mixtape Series, we’re happy to have Saint Petersburg-based DJ and producer Maruwa in the mix. First we asked what she’s been up to lately & to tell us about the mix…

This year I have been focused on making and mixing new music, trying new things in producing, exploring new genres and even tried to record my vocals. Alongside my DJ and producer career I have been writing music for an relaxation app and this really helped me to  stay afloat in this strange time

I recorded this mix at home using Ableton 10. I’m happy I had an opportunity to play at some local gigs here in Russia between the lockdowns. This mix is a summary of the most frequently played stuff of this summer and the first half of autumn. As usually, I combined my beloved trancey, breakbeat and electro vibes together.

Having lots of plans for 2021 and loads of music upcoming. 2020 looked literally like a Groundhog Day year for me, and I hope that 2021 will be more diverse with events.

This week on the FMB Mixtape Series, we welcome London-based producer MOY. As always, we first caught up with him to ask a bit about the mix & what he’s been up to recently…

My new EP “The Boötes Void” on AC Records, came out in September and looks to be doing well. I took advantage of all the spare time during the past 7 months to crack on with production and get a shed load of new projects out the door.

The mix was recorded at home using Ableton 10. I love mixing records live on the decks and will always play-out with vinyl, but I try to make mixes like these a bit more special. Using Ableton makes it possible to really push the boat out.

Throughout the global pandemic there has been a huge amount of amazing music written but nowhere for people to hear it. I wanted to use this mix as an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the freshest cuts from my favourite artists and labels. Apart from a few tracks that came out in the last week or so, the mix is unreleased / forthcoming gold.

My LP – “Dynamics Of Acid” – 9 bangers recorded over the last 7 years, will be out on Altered Sense before the end of the year.

I am starting a regular monthly show on Threads Radio in November, featuring an hour of belters plus special guest mixes from some very exciting names, and on top of all that I have a jam packed release schedule for 2021. Basically there is lots to look forward to!

For this week’s episode of the FMB mixtape series, we’re happy to have our good friend Swoose delivering the mix. As usual we caught up with him to see what’s on the horizon & what he’s been up to recently…

I released an EP in May on Shall Not Fade which I was super happy with. The feedback seemed to be great. I made a pact to myself at the start of all this shit that I would use the downtime wisely so I’ve been super busy in the studio. Got another 2 EP’s coming out next year, collaborating with a vocalist in Berlin and written some songs for an album. Really want to explore the idea of a live show but that’s for later down the line.

The mix was recorded in my room aka The Shed aka Casa Relaxa. Got my studio & decks setup in here. Its my haven :)

No idea behind the mix really. I started off Balearic, mixed it up with breaks & 2 step, finishing with some pumpin house.

I am toying with the idea of moving to Berlin to work on some music for a few months. If not I’ll continue to make music here and enjoy the autumn ahead.

For episode 152 of our podcast series, we’ve invited Craig Campbell to deliver the mix. We first caught up with Craig to ask about the mix and what he’ll be up to next…

Wouldn’t exactly call it a DJ career but more of a hyper hobby that started in University and saw me play nights in exotic places such as London, Orlando, Manchester and Mossley.

Most famous for my run as resident for Freitags. This was alongside fellow residents Willl Tramp, Esqueezy and Benjamin Perry.

Managed to squeeze in my first public appearance at Eastern Bloc right before lock down, since then have been searching for work (which I have luckily found) and buying records.

The mix was recorded on a slightly different set up than my normal one. It was still two Technics but with an Allen & Heath mixer.

The idea was to try and compile a mix of new tracks bought from Eastern Bloc and Piccadilly over lockdown and throw in a few classics as well.

Working and buying more records I guess. Would love the chance to play out again, but really can’t see that happening anytime soon.

This week is episode 151 of the series, & we have a “Feeling Future” mix from Davo FM. As always, we caught up with Davo to ask a few questions about it and whats on the horizon…

In June I decided to take a delivery job which has been a great distraction from the situation us DJs find ourselves in currently. Drive time is music time so work is made easy.

I have been focused on making tracks and mixing tracks, lockdown has provided time for creative people to do their thing .

I think 2020 will be remembered as one of the most exciting years for electronic music as the quality of new music being released is exceptional.

I recorded the mix in my home studio using a pioneer DJM900 NXS2 mixer and a pair of pioneer XDJ700s players digitally recorded onto DJM-REC APP on my smartphone.

The vibe of the mix quite emotive spontaneous and honest, its the risk and reward in the mixing process that excites me .The track selection is from this year and last mainly with the exception of a 10 year old Royksopp track called the drug which lives in the heart of the mix.

We all love music, its the heartbeat of our existence so to be able to include friends music on this mix was definitely a Joy for me …big ups to Jay @Blottertrax Berlin , Jay @Harem tone Dublin & Daniel Weathley for vocals on my track “Joypad” which is the opening track in the mix and is due for release soon on Guerrilla Movement Uk

Up next…

Next mission is to write some nice tunes I can play in my DJ set and maybe some edits of friends music

But most importantly for me is to continue enjoying the creative process.
